Well today has been a very event filled day take it from me the Grammy. Mandy had a 12:15 appointment with Dr. Nord where they did a very thorough ultrasound. Andersen as usual was not moving much at all. Mandy conveyed her concerns to her doctor and he was very empathetic deciding in the end that she should return for sonograms every day this week and that she should deliver on Friday. At 1:15 she had an appointment with her perinatologist. He was not seeing the breathing motions they like to see inutero and also felt that Andersen was developmentally about 13 days behind his gestational age. He felt that could mean that Andersen was not getting the nutrition he needed and that he would be better off being delivered. There followed a long dialogue about the risks to him, the possibility that he would need to go to Peoria and all the possibilities. In the end it was decided at 2:45 that he would be delivered at 5:00 which meant Mandy could not even come home to gather a few things. Then there was a flurry of phone calls and gathering children. We all got to the hospital at about 4:15. About this time they told Mandy that she would need to undergo general anesthesia because she has been on a blood thinner to help her high blood pressure. This could cause excessive bleeding at the sight of her spinal if they nicked a blood vessel. So she was completely put out and Joel was not able to be in with her. After what seemed like forever we finally heard some pretty hefty crying coming from the C-Section room. He is a whopping 4lbs 3.8 oz and is 16 inches long. He is on an antibiotic and has already had a chest x-ray. They are watching him very carefully. They will know probably by the middle of the night if he needs to go to Peoria. Mandy is doing well. She is in quite a bit of pain and has a migraine from all the medication but she feels relieved he is delivered and they can now deal with the known as opposed to the unknown. Thank you for all the prayers. He is adorable which is a completely objective oppinion of course.

Talk about precious! Thank you so much, Julie, for sharing with us...And your biased opinion is right on! He is perfect, just perfect. We did quite a bit of praying for Andersen and Mandy today, and this is such a testament to God's perfect, gracious, and miraculous timing! I can't wait to see him in person, and Mandy too for that matter...
Now, I will head to bed with my suspicions confirmed God IS in control! I will be praying for rest and relaxation for both, and that God see fit to keep them here in town!

Congratulations to you all - mommy and daddy, big brothers and sisters, grammy and grandpa, aunties and uncles!!! He is so beautiful - all 4+ pounds of him! Praise God for His indescribable gifts!! Oooooo - I can't wait to get my hands on him! We are sending ALL of our LOVE and continued prayers to the entire Knowlton and Garvin families!!!

I'll keep praying that he continues to grow strong and healthy, into the man God wants him to be, and that Mandy's recovery is quick. :-)
